Arrival, tropical birds and bruises…

2 oktober 2015 - Sydney, Australië

Hi there, everybody!

Again a long time ago, my arrival here is already a month ago. I can’t believe the time flew by this fast. Blending in was quite easy. Also getting into the family ‘routine’ wasn’t very hard.

I have seen and done a lot past few weeks. Seen most of the closest beaches, discovered the city by both day and night. Had a look in some art museums and walked for miles and miles!

The house I’m living is next to a nature reserve so I see the most beautiful tropical birds in the garden and even on the balcony. The cockatoos are here almost like pigeons in the Netherlands. I already spotted one wallaby but there a probably more to come. The nature here is so beautiful it’s amazing. You’re in the middle of the city the one moment and as soon as you drive out of it you’re surrounded by nature.

People here are really enjoying life over here, a lot of outside activities lots of days out and barbies (barbeques).

There is a big difference to my experience in South Africa and here in Sydney. This makes it interesting because at the same time Australia is also different than the Netherlands. I really enjoy getting to know all these different cultures/lifestyles.

Trying to blend in I continued my surfing here; I even bought a second hand board. I must admit the see over here is quite different from the one in South Africa. But hopefully after some more practice I will get hold of it (properly). My legs are bruised most of the time, looks awful but worth it.

The weather is very nice, spring just started so the temperatures are around the 20 degrees. This weekend we will even hit the 30ties. So it’s going to be pool weather!

Hopefully the Netherlands will have some nice autumn days.

I hope I will be able to write a longer story next time!

Enjoy the day ;)
